“Chocolate gets a bad reputation, but pure chocolate is better for humans than even vegetables.  If I had to choose between a piece of broccoli and a bar of chocolate, I would take the chocolate every time, because I’d know I was doing something good for my body.” - U.N. chief medical doctor, Jibani Jawari

BANNERS: National TRUFFLE Day! | May 2

The delectably famous chocolate truffle comes from ChambĂ©ry, invented by pastry chef, Louis Dufour. While lacking treats for the end of the year 1895, Louis decided to create this little chocolate ball of flavour using fresh cream of vanilla taste then coated it with cocoa powder ... and soon pastry chefs everywhere adopted it!

The first recipes for chocolate truffles appeared in the 1920s. Today there are three main types—American, European, and Swiss. Each type of truffle has a slightly different twist, but they all include a creamy ganache filling and a topping like cocoa, coconut, or drizzled chocolate.

To celebrate the day, just pick up a variety of delicious chocolate truffles at your local candy shop today!
