BANNERS: National CHIP and DIP Day | March 23 (#NationalChipandDipDay)

Chips and dips have sure come a long way since the hummus-dipping days of centuries ago.
Today chips of all kinds such as pretzel chips, tortilla chips, corn chips, bean chips, vegetable chips, plantain chips, pita chips and even popcorn chips can all be dunked into many varieties of your favourite dips.

Chips and dip gained significant popularity in the United States during the 1950s, in part due to a Lipton advertising campaign for their French onion dip recipe, sometimes referred to as "California dip". Specialized trays and serving dishes designed to hold both chips and dip were created during this time. Chips and dip are frequently served during the Super Bowl American football game in the United States.

BANNERS: National Workplace Napping Day | National Napping Day (#NationalWorkplaceNappingDay) (#NationalNappingDay)

It's a much appreciated day because we could all use some extra Z's after turning our clocks ahead one hour for the beginning of Daylight Savings Time!!!..

This day was created thanks to Boston University Professor William Anthony, author of the book The Art of Napping, who says that the first Sunday of daylight savings time, should be celebrated as “National Nap Day.”

The day was originally celebrated on the first Sunday of daylight savings time and was known as National Nap Day, but that eventually changed to the Monday after it, taking on another name in the process - National Workplace Napping Day.

BANNERS: National OREO COOKIE Day | March 6 (#NationalOreoCookieDay)

March 6 is National Oreo Cookie Day, not that we need a reason to celebrate 'Milk's Favorite Cookie' and quite possibly America's best-selling cookie since its introduction in 1912.

The origin of the name Oreo is unknown, but there are many hypotheses, including derivations from the French word 'Or', meaning gold (as early packaging was gold), or the Greek word "Ωραίο", meaning tasty, beautiful, nice or well done. Others believe that the cookie was named Oreo because it was short and easy to pronounce.

The "Oreo Biscuit" was first developed and produced by the National Biscuit Company (today known as Nabisco) in 1912 at its Chelsea, Manhattan factory in the current-day Chelsea Market complex, located on Ninth Avenue between 15th and 16th Streets. Today, this same block of Ninth Avenue is known as "Oreo Way."

The first Oreo was sold on March 6, 1912, to a grocer in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Did you know, in 2013 research on rats at Connecticut College revealed that Oreos might be as addictive to them as cocaine?
