BANNERS: International Day of the AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER | October 20

Where would be without them? Thank you for your continuous dedication Air Traffic Controllers!...

International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers' Associations (IFATCA) unites the professional associations of air traffic controllers from around the world. In total, it represents over 130 of such organisations, with a combined membership of over 50,000 air traffic controllers.

On October 20th, IFATCA celebrates the International Day of The Air Controller. The day coincides with the constitutional meeting of their Federation, held in Amsterdam in 1961. Member Associations around the world organize events for their members and/or a wider audience. It puts their profession, which is still relatively unknown to the general public, in the spotlight.

The Federation is registered in Switzerland, but maintains a permanent office in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

The goals of the Federation include promoting safety, efficiency, and regularity of international air navigation, aid in the development of air traffic control systems, procedures and facilities and promote knowledge and professional efficiency among air traffic controllers.

BANNERS: World SMILE Day

The most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer around the world - the smiley face, was created in 1963 by commercial artist, Harvey Ball from Worcester, Massachusetts.
The smiley face knows no politics, no geography and no religion, so Harvey declared that the first Friday in October each year would henceforth be World Smile Day® (#WorldSmileDay)

The World's first World Smile Day was held in the year 1999 and has been held annually since.

The World Smile Corporation was founded by Ball in 1999. The Corporation licenses Smileys and organizes World Smile Day. World Smile Day raises money for the Harvey Ball World Smile Foundation, a non-profit charitable trust that supports children's causes. World Smile Day is held on the first Friday of October each year and is a day dedicated to "good cheer and good works". The catch phrase for the day is "Do an act of kindness - help one person smile".

Happy World Smile Day!
