BANNERS: National BOBBLEHEAD Day I January 7 (#NationalBobbleheadDay)

It's National Bobblehead Day! Yay! Remember those animal nodders placed on the dashboard of cars back in the day? Or the Major League Baseball-branded bobbleheads of the 1960s? Well, the ever-popular bobbers still live on today some in the form of mini-bobbleheads, bobble computer sitters, bobblehead banks, and even bobblehead air fresheners.! #NationalBobbleHeadDay

National Bobblehead Day is an official National Observance Day celebrated annually each year on January 7th to celebrate all spring-connected head bobbing figurines.

A bobblehead, also known as a nodder, Hannah, wobbler or bobble head, is a type of collectible doll. Its head is often oversized compared to its body. Instead of a solid connection, its head is connected to the body by a spring or hook in such a way that a light tap will cause the head to bobble, hence the name.

Did You Know?:

  • During the mid-sixties, popularity for bobbleheads was increasing and not just in sports. The Beatles bobblehead set was made and became one of the most famous and rarest of all time. It was one of the first sets of bobbleheads modelled after humans that weren't athletes.
    Largest Bobblehead
  • The largest bobblehead ever made is 4.69 m (15 ft 4.75 in) tall and was achieved by Applied Underwriters (USA) in Orlando, Florida, USA, on 8 April 2016. This bobblehead is a scaled-up version of a St. Bernard, the mascot of Applied Underwriters insurance. The giant bobblehead was created by scenic prop shop Dino Rentos Studios, and the head bobs after pulling on a leash attached to the neck.
  • On February 1, 2019, The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum opens to the public at 170 S. 1st St. in Milwaukee's Walker's Point neighborhood. The Museum features over 6,500 unique bobbleheads, dozens of exhibits and a store featuring merchandise and over 500 bobbleheads available for purchase.
